Life on the farm
Raines Hall Farm is a working farm, so as well as cattle, sheep and various breeds of pig, there are ferrets, rabbits, small rodents, llamas, alpacas, goats, horses and donkeys! With plenty of different animals to see, everyone will have a favourite!
Raines Hall Farm, the home of Lakeland Maze Farm Park has been owned by the Wadsworth family for 100 years this spring. A family farm which has always been busy, is now a fun place for all to visit.
Once a dairy farm housing over 200 cattle, many of the buildings on site today have been converted, the pet barn being the old milking parlour, and the ferret hut the old bull pen!
Still a working farm to this day, we now focus on farming free range laying chickens down our hen shed. Our on site tractor ride takes you on a tour of the farm and some of the many acres of land the chickens get to roam. We also farm pigs on a small scale, with their meat being for sale in our on site self service egg and farm shop.
The maize maze
In 2004 owners Graham and Jane decided to grow a maize maze and open their doors to the public. Since then the park has expanded to include play equipment, petting areas, purpose built all weather mazes, a café, soft play area and so much more. Each year something new and exciting happens, so no visit is ever the same!
Raines Hall remains the Wadsworth’s family home and all generations of the family still get stuck in. Edmund can be found tinkering with his vintage tractors, and Graham often down the hen shed with young son Isaac and Isla the sheepdog giving him a helping hand!
